Kentucky State Police received a report of a single vehicle traffic crash on KY 92, eight miles east of Monticello, in Wayne County Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, police determined that a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix operated by Virgil G. Gregory, 74, of Monticello was traveling westbound on KY 92 when the vehicle dropped off the roadway causing the driver to over-correct.

The vehicle then crossed the roadway, striking a ditch and crossed back to the westbound side where it left the roadway and came to final rest.

Gregory, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.

Police say they do not suspect alcohol or drug use.
