Man Convicted Of Murdering Lexington Cab Driver In 2011

Friday morning a Fayette Circuit Court jury found John Davis Cherry, Junior, 31, guilty of murder, wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment.

The jury recommended life in prison.

Lexington Police said Amine Lemghaili, 28, was found shot in the head in his taxi cab in the parking lot of the Hedgewood Court communal townhouses in the Woodhill area in March 2011.

Lemghaili was an independent contract driver for Yellow Cab.

He left behind a wife and young daughter.

Cherry is scheduled to be sentenced March 8, 2013.
