Police arrested Danthony Chambers, 21, in connection with an assault that occurred earlier this month.

On July 7, 2013 police said they responded to Merrick Shell to investigate an assault at approximately 1:16 a.m.

Police said when they arrived, they found a man unconscious on the ground with obvious injuries to his head.

The incident was caught on Shell surveillance video. The video shows the victim leaving Merrick Shell. As he exited the store, he got into a verbal altercation with two men in a nearby vehicle. One of the men got out of the car and began assaulting the victim before the second male in the car joined the assault.

Police said the victim was punched in the face and knocked unconscious. The two suspects fled the scene of the attack.

The victim was transported to Baptist Health and received nine staples to close the laceration to the back of his head.

Police released the surveillance footage along with pictures of the suspects.  Police said they got a tip and Chambers was identified as a possible suspect.

He was charged with Assault.

Police are still searching for the second suspect in the case.
