Man Charged In Armed Robbery Case

Steven Short, 34, is charged with first degree robbery and first degree burglary in Knott County.
Police in Knott County have charged a man with robbery and burglary.

Authorities say early Tuesday morning at approximately 03:20 a.m., Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a 911 call of an armed robbery at the residences of Willie and Nero Patton.

Police say the Pattons are two elderly males who reside in the Mousie community of Knott County. The caller reported to authorities that men had entered one home by force and robbed the victim. Police say men entered a second residence  with a shotgun, and someone inside was assaulted and robbed. 

Steven Short, 34, of Mousie is charged with first degree robbery, first degree burglary, and first degree assault. He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Detention Center. 

Information gathered also led police to Heath Slone, 28, of Mousie. Slone was taken into custody and transported to the Hazard ARH for treatment with criminal charges pending.
