Lexington Police said an early morning shooting is drug related.

Jeffrey Cousey is in jail, charged with tampering with evidence and wanton endangerment.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot fired at Westminster Apartments along Versailles Road around 4 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the victim walking on a nearby street with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim initially told police that two suspects kicked in his apartment door and shot at him for no reason.

Police said there was no sign of forced entry.

Investigators found drugs at the scene.
