Man Arrested In Laurel County Burglary Investigation

The Laurel County Sheriff's Department received a 911 complaint on Hensley Road that two male subjects were running down the road chasing each other with guns on Sunday night around 9 p.m.

Deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, and learned that a male subject who had been the victim of a burglary earlier came to a mobile home at 435 Hensley Road, eight miles north of London.

Police say that victim confronted a male subject he believed to be involved in his theft. Inside the mobile home, three deputies located the male subject who had been involved in the fight on the earlier confrontation. Michael Holt, 25, of London was arrested.

According to authorities, Holt was staying in a mobile home containing numerous items that had been reported in area burglaries recently, Other items were recovered that investigators believed to have been stolen in burglaries and thefts in the Laurel County area, especially northern Laurel County. Items seized included: Jewelry, chain saws, weed eaters, jewelry boxes, and other assorted items

Holt is charged with first degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking regarding a burglary earlier at Melvin Bowling’s home on Allen School Road, East Bernstadt. Holt was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Police say as word of the arrest spread in northern Laurel County, numerous other potential victims came to the scene to meet with sheriff's deputies, as they investigated the scene. The investigation is continuing.
