State Police said Randy Gross, 36, of Mount Vernon, solicited money from his co-workers that was supposedly going to a fund to help find a missing teenager.

Investigators said Gross collected $263, but kept the money for himself.

State Police said Gross was arrested and charged with Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition.

Investigators said Gross told people the money was going to a fund to help find Brookelyn Farthing, 19, of Berea.  She has been missing since June of last year.

State Police said Gross confessed to the crime.

Gross said the confession was forced by investigators and that he fully intended to donate the money to a fund to help with the search for Farthing.
