Man Accused Of Firing Shots At Campers

Paul Nicely, 57, has been arrested in Pulaski County.
Investigators in southern Kentucky arrested a man they say frightened a group of campers.

Paul M. Nicely, 57, is accused of firing shots at nine people, including four adults and five children. The group was camping over the weekend off Kentucky 934 in northeastern Pulaski County.

The campers told investigators that a man used a high-powered rifle, shotgun, and a pistol to fire live ammunition into the trees where the adults and children were camping.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says officers tried to use a taser that did not work before getting Nicely on the ground.

He now faces multiple charges that include nine counts of wanton endangerment, fleeing/evading police and resisting arrest.

Police say Nicely knew the victims, and was headed toward a building attached to his home that housed 61 different guns, ammo, knives, and a machete.
