Malco Theatres Acquires Movies 9 In Winchester

The shows will go at the 9-screen movie theater in Winchester.

Malco Theatres acquired Movies 9 Theatre from previous owner Bluegrass Theaters.

Malco Theatres said in a release that the cinema at 40 Winchester Plaza would undergo extensive renovations and upgrades over the next few months.

The company said the changes would include a full conversion to digital cinema with Dolby stereo 7.1 surround sound, 3D movies and larger wall-to-wall screens, a lobby and concession remodel, as well as plush rocking chair comfort.

Additional amenities such as reloadable gift cards, group discounts (select days and times), corporate rentals and worship space would also be available.

The company said lobby kiosks for online/advance ticketing redemption would also be added.

Malco Theatres is a fourth-generation family owned and operated business that's based in Memphis, Tennessee.

The company will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2015.

Malco Theatres operates over 330-screens at 32 locations across the Mid-South, as well as bowling and family entertainment centers in Louisiana.
