Success was to be measured by progress against Alabama and while the score may not reflect a push in the right direction...the tape does...at least defensively and early on for the football Cats.

48-7 didn't cover the spread of 27 points Vegas had the Tide at but a scoreless first quarter was surely an unexpected surprise for Solid Blue fans to witness and for the Crimson Tide faithful who traveled to see the game at Commonwealth.

Bottom line from Saturday's loss to Nick Saban and company?  Mark Stoops thinks his team is taking steps in the right direction, just not enough yet to hang with the top dogs.

Hear from Stoops in the video.
