Mail Carriers Protest Five Day Mail Week

The Postmaster General has proposed cutting Saturday mail.
The Federal Government is proposing to cut Saturday mail, but not everyone in central Kentucky is pleased about that.

Today members of the National Association of Letter Carriers came together with local politicians at a rally in Bluegrass Station to protest the proposed cut.

Opponents say cutting Saturday mail would hurt business, eliminate jobs, increase the cost of mail and hurt rural mail customers who may not have internet and email.

Representative Andy Barr was in attendance and feels the Legislature should be involved in a decision that effects so many.

Opponents to the proposal say the USPS needs to look for new business opportunities and make mail delivery more efficient and not cut services and jobs.
