Madison County to Vote on Raising Dropout Age

The Madison County School Board plans to vote next week on whether to raise the dropout age in the district to 18.
The Madison County School District is considering raising its dropout age to 18.

The announcement comes shortly after lawmakers passed a bill allowing districts to make their own decisions on raising the drop out age. The first 57 school districts in the state to raise the dropout age will receive a $10,000 dollar state grant.

The school board is expected to vote on the possible change next week.
