The Madison County Public School System said it rolled out the first 'Smart Bus' in Kentucky.
It's a retrofitted bus that offers students a filtered Internet connection.
The unit used to access the Internet in the bus can be removed and hooked-up to other power sources.
The district said there was a one-time cost of $300 for hardware that turned the bus into a mobile hotspot.
The district will pay a $60 monthly fee, but much of that will be reimbursed through the Universal Service Fund, according to school officials.
The district hopes to continue to use the 'Smart Bus' over the summer.
