Richmond police have charged Isiah Mundy, 30, of Linden Street with attempted Murder and other charges in connection with a shooting on May 29.
Police say someone reported to them that Mundy came to her home on Edwards Avenue and had a conversation regarding children they have in common.
According to authorities, she went into her residence and told Mundy that he could not enter her home. A short time later, police say Mundy forced the front door open and the woman ran down a hallway to her room.
Police say as the woman was going into the room, she heard Mundy yelling and then a shot was fired. The woman checked on her children, ages 14, 5, and 7, in an adjacent bedroom across the hall to ensure they were not injured. Police say someone else arrived and tried to remove Mundy from the apartment.
According to authorities, the woman engaged in a fight with Mundy before he was finally removed from the apartment.
Officers observed damage to the front door consistent with forced entry and also noted a bullet hole in the wall near the hallway. Officers recovered the remains of a bullet from the wall.
Along with the attempted murder charge, Mundy is charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
