The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says a man was intoxicated and passed out while caring for his 21-month-old daughter.

Deputies say they were dispatched to panic alarms just before 5:30 p.m. Friday at a home on Vanzant Road.

They say after a deputy knocked on the door and no one answered, he looked into the residence.

The deputy reportedly saw a man laying unresponsive on the floor and a small child crawling under a Christmas tree.

The Sheriff's Office says the deputy was able to get through the front door to get to the man and toddler.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old Nicholas C. Robertson of London on a child endangerment charge.

They say the child was released to her mother.
