Local Prep Plays Ball With One Arm

Madison Southern Senior Roger Rose plays varsity basketball despite a childhood stroke that effects the entire right side of his body.
Madison Southern High School Senior Roger Rose loves basketball so much, that he plays with only one arm.

Rose suffered a stroke at six that he says almost killed him. He says doctors told him he'd never walk or talk again.

Rose has been a member of the Madison Southern basketball team all four years of high school.

He practices with the team and occasionally gets into games.

Naturally right-handed, Rose had to re-learn everything with his left hand.

He says after high school he plans to attend EKU and then eventually UK where he wants to become a pediatrician.

Madison Southern will play Scott County on Monday at 8:15pm at EKU for the 11th Region District Tournament.
