Hundreds of people gathered in Lexington Thursday afternoon to honor the fundraising efforts of the local March of Dimes chapter.
The organization used Thursday's luncheon to hand out its fundraising awards for 2011.
Those individuals and agencies were all honored for their work to raise money for March of Dimes campaigns. The group also kicked off its 2012 fundraising efforts, which culminates with the Walk For Babies event at Keeneland on Sunday, May 20th.
Dr. Linda Sanders of Central Baptist Hospital summed up the event by saying, "This walk itself brings families together, brings health care workers together, and helps us all stay focused on what it is we love and care most about--and that is our families, their children, and just giving them the best start that we can."
ABC 36 Morning and Noon News Anchor Lauren Gawthrop was the Mistress of Ceremonies at the gathering.
ABC 36 is a proud media sponsor for the Walk For Babies event. Over the next couple of months, viewers will hear a lot more about it and ways they can get involved.
