Local Firefighters React to Arizona Tragedy

Local firefighters are mourning the loss of 19 comrades in a wildfire in Arizona.
The flag at the Owingsville Fire Department flew at half staff Monday in memory of the 19 firefighters who died in Arizona.

The department is well aware of the dangers associated with fighting fires in rough terrain and constantly changing weather.

Each year, they battle blazes in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

Their gear for fighting fires in the forest is lighter than the gear they use when fighting a structural fire.

Each crew member also has a protective tent with them to use for if trapped by a fire, but it doesn't guarantee their safety.

Authorities say each firefighter in Arizona deployed their protective tent before being overcome by the fire.
