New numbers from the Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission show lobbyists spent $8.9 million during this past General Assembly Session.

And the Consumer Healthcare Products Association was the biggest single spender at $486,000.

That came at a time when the General Assembly was considering a bill to limit over-the-counter sales of pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient in making meth.

The drug industry opposed the legislation.

Eventually, a bill was passed.

But the final version was weaker than the original bill.
