Little league baseball teams from across the region were in Bardstown Saturday for a tournament in memory of murdered police officer Jason Ellis.

Forty-two teams, some from as far away as central Ohio and Indiana competed in the inaugural Jason Ellis Memorial Tournament.

The tournament brought in more than 20 thousand dollars, which will go to Ellis's wife and two sons.

Organizers say they put together the tournament in just three weeks.

Each field had Ellis's badge number printed on the infield grass.

Ellis's friends say they plan on having the tournament every year.

The tournament will continue Sunday at 8 am and go until about 5 pm.
