A Lexington woman died early Sunday morning in a car crash in Louisville according to the Louisville Police Department.

Police said it happened on a street where there are many accidents throughout the year.

Police said Felicia Burton, 40, came out of a Cuban restaurant with some friends and staggered out onto Preston Highway.

"She was hit south by a van in the middle of the street that was headed south on Preston,” said a Louisville Police Officer.

Burton was pronounced dead at the scene.  Investigators believe alcohol did have something to do with the accident and do not think the driver of the minivan could see Burton in the road.

“The driver did stop and call police and we do not expect any charges at this time,” said the officer.

The intersection of Preston Highway and Blue Lick Road, near where the accident occurred, deals with a high number of accidents.

A plan is in place to one day straighten out Blue Lick Road to improve safety but some drivers believe it’s also about driving responsibly.

“No regard.  They text, they speed, the whole works.  They have no regard,” said driver Tee Brown.

Funeral arrangements for Burton have not yet been set.
