The 34th annual Alltech St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival in downtown Lexington on Saturday, March 16, is expected to have the following impact on traffic patterns:
The Shamrock Shuffle will close East Vine Street to Midland Avenue to Third Street to East Main Street to intersection at West Main and South Upper Street
The parade will close Midland from Third to Main, Main from Midland to Mill, and Upper between Main and Vine streets
The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the parade will be at 1 p.m.
Traffic – particularly pedestrian traffic -- could be increased in the downtown area near Rupp Arena on March 20-23 for the NCAA Regional Tournament.
The Lightning Strike 5K at Tates Creek High School from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, will result in closing these streets for short periods: Centre Parkway, Gainesway Drive and Greentree Road.
One lane of Newtown Pike is shut down in each direction between West Loudon Avenue and West Fourth Street due to construction for the new BCTC campus. Inbound and outbound motorists can expect delays in the area.
The Division of Engineering issued grading permits during the period March 8-14 for the following addresses: 1948 General Warfield Way, 3337 Sweet Clover Lane, 3721 Richmond Road, 440 Cunningham Lane, 1731 Sandhurst Cove, 2045 Falling Leaves Lane, 715 Miles Point Way, 2401 San Milano Place, 2268 Spurr Road, 2272 Spurr Road, 2129 Millstone Way, and College Way. Permits are issued for six months and can include some blasting.

MAJOR TRAFFIC IMPACT
Angliana Avenue will be CLOSED to through traffic between both ends of Curry Avenue through Saturday, March 16, for sewer line and manhole replacement. A detour will be in place.
SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC IMPACT
Portions of the following streets and roads will be blocked from Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, for repaving:
East Short Street
Bob O’ Link Drive
A rolling lane closure will close one lane at a time of North Upper Street from West
Main Street to West Sixth Street from Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, due to sewer work.
The right outbound lane of Winchester Road will be blocked between Dayton Avenue and Lliberty Road through Friday, March 29, to replace a gas main.
Southbound traffic on Martin Luther King Boulevard will be diverted to the left turn lane at East Main Street on Saturday, March 16, while concrete is being poured.
A portion of Woodland Avenue will be blocked between East Maxwell Street and Euclid Avenue through Friday, March 29, for utility work. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
DeRoode Street will be CLOSED between Versailles Road and McKinley Street 24 hours a day through December 31, for work on the Newtown Pike extension project. Motorists can access the neighborhood from Merino Street to McKinley Street to Byars Alley.
MODERATE TRAFFIC IMPACT
The travel lane of East Chestnut Street will be diverted to the parking lane between East Fifth and East Sixth Street on Tuesday, March 19, and Wednesday, March 20, while new manhole covers are installed.
One lane at a time of Ferguson Street will be blocked between Anderson Street and Jane Street through Monday, March 18, for utility work.
