Lexington Firefighters finally got a look inside a strip mall on New Circle Road.

It burned down last month and they said it wasn’t safe to go inside the building because of a weak structure.

According to firefighters, this is later than they had wanted to get inside the strip mall.

They said had to wait for special equipment to arrive; then the holidays and this week’s cold weather also slowed down the process.

As of now, they estimate the damage to be at least $1 million.

Firefighters said at least half of the building will have to be torn down.

All but one of the business in that strip mall have been closed since December.

Investigators haven’t decided if this was arson.
