This weekend is the 35th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Lexington.

Organizers said nearly 3,000 people ran in the Shamrock Shuffle 5K early Saturday morning.

It was followed by the parade through downtown Lexington at 1 p.m.

The festival downtown continued throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

According to the event’s website, the St. Patty’s Day Celebration is one of the longest running, community-wide events in Lexington.
