Lexington Prepares For Latest Winter Storm

City leaders update on us road conditions, and how they will keep us safe
Temperatures hugged 40 degrees Friday afternoon.  We found one person wearing shorts.

But the good weather would not last.

The Urban County Council approved money to buy more salt if needed.  Right now they have 5,000 tons of salt with another 500 on the way.

"That translates into being prepared," said Mayor Gray.

'We don't know that we will need it, but it is there just in case we do," said Albert Miller, Streets and Roads Director.

Friday trucks pre-treated the roads, and then spread out waiting to react.

Extra staff will work in the 911 call center for rush hour.

"All of our equipment's loaded, and ready to go," said Police Chief Ronnie Bastin.

Miller hopes the warm temperatures during the day prevent the roads from freezing.
