Lexington Police: Texting May Be Cause Of New Circle Accident

Police say the driver of a car may have been texting when they hit a utility truck on New Circle Road Monday morning.
        Lexington Police say texting while driving may be the cause of an early morning accident on New Circle Road.
        Around 9:30 Monday morning police arrive at the scene where a black car swerved into a lawn care truck.
        That truck was flipped on to it's side.
        Only minor injuries were reported.
        Officers on the scene believe the driver at fault may have been texting while driving.
       
       According to the National Transportation Safety Board an estimated 600-thousand accidents are caused every year due to distracted driving.
        Kentucky State Police say 6,583 accidents were caused by distracted drivers in Kentucky last year, 1,133 of those were caused by people on their cell phones.
        Three hundred and twelve texting citations were issued last year.
