Lexington police are looking for a suspect believed to be involved in an early morning shooting on Lexington's Eastside.

Police are still on the scene on Daniel lane.

No information yet on any suspects however we're told by police that the victim is in surgery facing serious injuries.

Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired at this apartment complex about 8:30 this morning.

They say when they arrived they found a man who was shot in the abdomen.

At this point police have no description of any suspect for what may have caused the shooting.

One witness who called 911 said he heard the entire commotion... And then ran to help the victim.

Investigators say when they arrived on the scene they also smelled a strange odor coming from the apartment.

Firefighters were called out to the scene to investigate they later determined that it was pepper spray.

Police are not sure if the victim tried to defend himself with the pepper spray or if the suspect had tried to spray on the victim.

We will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
