Lexington Police Officer Dragged By Vehicle

The officer was pulled when a driver took off during a traffic stop on Floyd Drive.
Lexington police say an officer was dragged by a truck that took off during a traffic stop Friday morning on Floyd Drive.

Police say officers were looking for a stolen vehicle, and found it at 8:20 a.m. Friday, with a man identified as Theodore Samuel Sharp inside.

According to investigators, the officer asked for license, and the driver denied having one; that is when police say the officer tried pulling him out of the vehicle, a blue Ford Exhibition.

Police say Sharp then started driving forward, so the officer had to hold on. Authorities then say Sharp stopped the vehicle, allowing the officer to drop from the car, and then drove off.

The car at 836 Floyd Drive and has been returned to the owner. Police have not found Sharp. The officer was not injured.
