Lexington Police: Drunk Driver Almost Hits Children

Lexington police arrested a woman after they said she almost hit several children while driving drunk Sunday afternoon.

According to a police report, Courtney Wright, 19, was driving at a high rate of speed on Mapleleaf Drive when she lost control of her car.

They said she then went into the opposite lane of traffic and onto a curb.

Police said she missed hitting some children nearby.

According to the report, Wright jumped out of the car and ran off--she was arrested a short time later.

Police said Wright admitted to having several shots of vodka before the accident.
