A serious late-night crash killed a man, injured two adults and a toddler on Saturday, officials said.

Lexington Police said two vehicles collided just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Man o' War Boulevard and Rio Dosa Drive.

Multiple fire crews and police officers were called to the scene. When they arrived, they found one vehicle overturned and another with heavy front end damage.

According to police officials, the crash caused one of the victims to be ejected from their vehicle. Another victim was pinned inside of their vehicle. The toddler was reported to be inside the flipped SUV and appeared to have lacerations to their head.

Fire officials quickly called for more ambulances and rescue crews, as firefighters began CPR on one of the victims.

All of the victims were eventually rushed to area hospitals. One of the victims, John Trent, 45, of Nicholasville, Ky. was pronounced dead moments after arriving at UK Hospital. According to a report released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, Trent succumbed from multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The Lexington Police Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Police closed down the inner and outer loops of Man O’ War Boulevard for hours while they investigated. The boulevard remained shut down from Richmond Road to Palumbo Drive for about four hours.

The condition of the toddler and the two other victims were not immediately available to law enforcement officials. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
