Lexington Police said a standoff ended Wednesday afternoon after officers took a woman into custody.

Police had blocked off Lansdowne Drive between Reynolds Road and Redding Road after they said a woman barricaded herself in her home and threatened to kill herself.

A gun shot was fired at some point during the standoff.

Surrounding homes and apartments were evacuated, and security was heightened at Lansdowne Elementary.

Police said they went into the apartment around 2:45 and took the woman into custody.

Officers said she would be taken to the hospital for evaluation.
