Pet owners: a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic is on the way this Thursday in Lexington.

Vaccines usually cost about $20.00. These will cost $3.00.

Cats have to be in carriers, and dogs have to be on leashes.

The clinic is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 3 at the Third Street fire station at 219 East Third Street. Kentucky state law requires that all dogs, cats and ferrets maintain a current rabies vaccination. The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department rabies control program received 842 animal bite reports last year.

For more information on the annual rabies clinic, call the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department's Division of Environmental Health at (859) 231-9791. For additional information, you can find the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter at twitter.com/LFCHD.
