A frustrated community is hoping prayer will help them heal and move forward after a string of arsons.
A frustrated community is hoping prayer will help them heal and move forward after a string of arsons.

Residents of the Preakness Apartments in Lexington got together Friday night.

Since the first week of December, the neighbors have been terrorized by what investigators are calling a serial arsonist.

They gathered in the clubhouse of the apartment complex to pray for a solution.

After seeing 10 fires in the past 6 weeks, resident Mary Mayes is ready to take matters into her own hands.

She says, "But I do live on this block and we do need protection on this block. If it take us to do a neighborhood watch, we will do at. We will get together in groups and walk around all night long if that's what it takes for us to find who this person is. Because we just want it to stop because we have families here; people with kids and babies."

There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the fires.
