Lexington Man Shot At Chasing Thieves

A Lexington man is shot at while chasing after would-be thieves who he said were trying to break-in to his neighbor's van.
A Lexington man said he was shot at by would-be thieves while he chased them through his neighborhood.

Phillip Reed said he witnessed four men trying to break-in to his neighbor's van. Reed said he yelled at the men who took off down the street in a getaway car.

Reed said he chased after the men.

He said one of the would-be thieves turned and fired two shots at him.  He said he took cover behind a mailbox.

Lexington Police say the suspects hit a parked car while fleeing the scene.

Investigators said they found the getaway car a short time later abandoned on Spangler Drive.

No arrests had been made as of Midnight Sunday.

Lexington Police don't encourage citizens to try to take the law into their own hands.

Police said Mr. Reed was lucky he wasn't injured or even killed.
