Lexington Holiday Tradition Getting Underway at Fire House

Lexington firefighters are putting the final touches a holiday tradition.
It takes 20,000 lights, specialized control boxes and a team effort by the Lexington Fire Department to create one of Lexington's favorite holiday traditions.

It's called "The Holiday Light Show," an interactive mix of music and holiday lights to put a smile on everybody's face. Firefighters gave ABC 36 an exclusive sneak peak of the light show during Good Morning Kentucky.

The light show takes place at Station 20, located off Harrodsburg Road, across from Beaumont Center. It starts Friday evening and runs through the holiday season.  Firefighters say, once you find a good viewing spot, tune your radio to 91.1 FM and enjoy the show.

The light show is just part of LFD's giving back to the community. Firefighters also have another holiday tradition, but they need the public's help.

Their annual Firefighter Toy Drive distributes toys to families in-need, they provide toys to over 2,000 kids each year. Lexington firefighters are asking for the public's help to donate new, unwrapped toys to any Fire Station in Lexington for those families in need. They will be accepting donations through December 13th.
