Lexington Fire Dept. Urges Everyone to Get a Smoke Detector

The fire department said they will install new detectors for free for anyone disabled or over the age of 50 in Fayette County.
Studies show that two-thirds of fire related deaths take place in homes that don't have working smoke detectors.

The Lexington Fire Department, through a federal grant and the work of the Fire Prevention Bureau, has purchased numerous smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and 9-volt batteries.

The fire department said they will install new detectors for free for anyone disabled or over the age of 50 in Fayette County.
