Lexington Fire Department Issues Scam Warning

The Lexington Fire Department said a man is trying to scam people by claiming he lost his house in a fire and needs money to get back on his feet.
The Lexington Fire Department said someone claiming to be a fire victim is trying to scam people out of their money.

Investigators said the man claims his home off of Harrodsburg Road burned down and that he needs money to get back on his feet.

The Fire Department said there was no fire.  Don't fall for it.

The LFD said when someone is displaced by a fire, the Red Cross and other organizations provide food, clothing and shelter until the victim can make long-term arrangements.

Investigators said it's unlikely someone would need money from the public immediately after a fire.
