Hundreds of Lexington families got off the couch Sunday and went for a 5K run.

For the second year the Fayette County Public Schools PTA put on a 5k run/walk to promote healthy lifestyles in the school district.

More than 1200 showed up for the race in front of the Embassy Suits hotel off Newtown Pike.

Local companies, including the Lexington Legends helped sponsor the event, allowing the proceeds from the run to go back to the school district for other healthy lifestyle programs.
