Lex Police Offer Safety Tips for Holiday Shopping

Police say they will be out in full force Thanksgiving Weekend keeping drivers and shoppers safe.
Lexington Police say retailers wont be the only ones busy Thanksgiving weekend.

They say patrols will be out in full force watching the roadways and heavy shopping areas.

This year police will begin patrolling stores at 8pm Thanksgiving night.

They say this is the earliest they've started patrolling since more stores are opening earlier for Black Friday this year.

They say there will also be alcohol traffic patrols every Friday and Saturday night around Lexington from 10pm until 4am.

Police are also urging shoppers to be careful and mindful of their surroundings while at the stores.

They say be aware of thieves looking of your shoulder to get your bank information, especially when writing checks.

They also say to never post anything on Facebook saying you'll be going shopping. That can make your home an easy target for burglars.

Police say to also never leave any valuable electronics in vehicles and make sure all items you purchase are out of sight when leaving them in the car.
