Lexington Leaders Deciding What to do With Extra Money

The Urban-County Government says they have a $3.75 million surplus in their general fund from taxes.
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government has a $3.75 million surplus from the 2012 budget.

City leaders say a majority of that money came from taxes.

A majority the Urban-County Council want to divide that money among the 12 districts in the city for capital projects.

However Mayor Gray and his administration says they want to be cautious with the funds, especially with large construction projects in the city's near future.

The Urban-County Council will meet Thursday at 6pm in the council chambers to vote on whether to divide the funds.
