A Laurel County Sheriff's Deputy was injured trying to arrest a man who claimed he was a bomb, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.

Danny Tincher, 34, of East Bernstadt, was charged with Assault 3rd Degree (victim a police officer), Resisting Arrest, Public Intoxication, Menacing and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree.

The Sheriff's Office said the initial call was that a man was trying to break-in to a woman's home on Keavy Road, 8-miles south of London on Tuesday around 8:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived on the scene they said they found Tincher sitting on the side of Mill Creek Road.

Deputies said as they approached Tincher, he reacted in a threatening stance, jumped up, armed with an object in his hand (which later was determined to be an ink pen) started screaming that he was a bomb.

Deputies said they scuffled with Tincher and during that scuffle, Deputy James Sizemore was struck in the arm with the ink pen, causing injury.

Also, deputies said the outside mirror of Deputy Sizemore's cruiser was broken off.

Tincher was eventually taken into custody and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
