The University of Kentucky police say they've never worked a case like this: an inter-state child abduction. On October 15th in Los Angeles, police say Alouette Day-Moreno-Baltierra was abducted by a family member.

"They were afraid this was going to end up being another Casey Anthony case, that the child had gone missing, and the mother was evidently saying that she didn't know where she was," said UK Police Chief Joe Monroe.

UK Police found Day-Moreno-Baltierra in the parking lot of the Joe Craft Center Thursday night.  An older woman was pushing her in a stroller.  Alouette was not wearing any coat, shoes, or gloves.  This drew the attention of police.

"She was trying to hide the face of the child.  She did not want us to question her about the child.  Some of the stuff she said to the officers immediately threw up some red flags to them, as far as something wasn't right with her having the baby there," said Monroe.

Earlier, the same woman was seen with Alouette at a UK hospital.

"She was in an area that is usually for employees only with the baby.  She said she was trying to get a job as a doctor," said Monroe.

The pastor of the Maxwell Street Presbyterian church also spoke with the woman.  Woody Berry said the woman just did not have a comfortable relationship with the child, and he wondered if the the kid had been abducted.

So who is the woman?  Police arrested 62-year-old Maria Baltierra-Dejesus.  SHe claims to be the infant's Grandmother.  UK police charged her with two felonies, and they are waiting for a warrant to extradite Baltierra-Dejesus to California.

Alouette is safely with Child Protective Services.  The police say they are trying to backtrack where she has been for the last 10 weeks.
