Kentucky Theatre Turns 90

The iconic Lexington landmark was opened on October 4th, 1922 to a packed house of 12-hundred people.
     The Kentucky Theater is turning 90 years-old this week.

     The theater opened its doors for the first time on October 4th, 1922 to a packed house of more than 12-hundred movie-goers.

    Today the theater still brings in the crowds for popular main-stream and independent films, along with plays, readings and even documentaries.

     Those that come to the theater say when you step inside the theater its like being transported back to 20's.

        They say they also enjoy seeing films and productions you would not normally see at a modern day movie theater.

     The theater is having a special 90-year anniversary celebration on October 10th.
