Kentucky State University's Plan To Pay It Forward

Raymond M. Burse, Kentucky State University's President, will launch 100 Days of Pay It Forward Frankfort at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at KSU's Alumni Stadium.
An announcement about a kindness initiative at Kentucky State University will come at 8:30 a.m on Friday.

University President Raymond Burse will launch “100 Days of Pay It Forward Frankfort” at KSU’s Alumni Stadium.

Dr. Shannon Brogan, an associate professor of Speech Communication, is coordinating the campaign with Irma Johnson, KSU's regional stewardship and community service coordinator.

Brogan said the idea was the result of several acts of kindness in her life last year. The project started when students in her persuasive speaking class helped a children's hospital in Charleston, West Virginia.

Brogan has been contacting individuals and businesses throughout Frankfort, asking that they select a day to Pay It Forward.

"The goal is to bring us together and show the positive in the community," said Brogan.

To share photos of the acts of kindness, individuals and businesses are encouraged to use a common hashtag #PAYITFWDFRANKFORT.
