Just in time for the holidays, many Kentucky soldiers returned home today.
After nearly a year in Afghanistan, National Guard Members are back in the Commonwealth.
Family and friends who met the soldiers at a welcome home ceremony at the Kentucky Horse Park said having them home for the holidays is perfect timing.
“Oh it's great, it's fantastic. The whole family's ecstatic,” said Ami Enis, cousin returning home. “I know his dad's been worried about him. We're glad to have him home. We're all just glad to have him home. It's a great moment.”
“Not being able to see him and to even hear that he was shot, but not harmed,” Sherian Gay, soldier’s Mom. “I can't wait to see him and touch him and kiss him and tell him how much I love him.”
While in Afghanistan, the soldiers were building tactical operation centers, medical facilities and dining and living facilities for NATO troops.
