Kentucky is last among all 50 states in fighting animal abuse.

That's according to the Animal Legal Defense Fund.

It's the sixth last-place finish in a row for Kentucky.

The group says among other thing, neglect and abandonment of animals are not felonies in Kentucky.

There are no restrictions on future ownership of animals after a cruelty conviction.

And veterinarians are prevented by law from reporting suspected cruelty.
