According to the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, preliminary numbers suggest 635 people were killed on state roads in 2013, down from 746 in 2012.

That's the lowest number since 1949, when 573 fatalities were reported.

KOHS also said there were 75 days in 2013 where no deaths were recorded.

The figures will stay classified as preliminary until all highway crash data is collected. A final report is expected by April.
