Thousands of people who were onboard the Carnival Ship “Triumph” that broke down last week finally walked on land tonight.
The cruise ship had an engine fire in the Gulf of Mexico four days ago that knocked out power and affected the propulsion system.
Now people here in Kentucky are wondering if this should stop them from taking a cruise.
Andrea Liver from Carlisle said it won’t stop her from taking another cruise. Twelve of Liver’s 13 cruises in the last ten years have been with Carnival. She will be taking a Carnival Cruise next week.
“If something were to happen, I'm not saying it wouldn't be scary,” Liver said. “You take a chance of something happening when you get in a car, a train, a boat, a plane. It could happen anywhere.”
But some people said that events like what happened last week would stop them from booking a cruise.
“Never been one at all and due to stories like this one, I don’t have any desire to ever be on one,” Donna Adkins said.
Passengers aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship that broke down will be receiving $500, reimbursement for the trip, a free flight home and a free Carnival Cruise to use in the future.
