Kentuckian Killed In Afghanistan Crash

The Department of Defense said Staff Sgt. Daniel Fannin, 30, of Morehead was killed in an aircraft crash Saturday.
A Kentuckian was killed in a crash in Afghanistan over the weekend.

The Department of Defense said Staff Sgt. Daniel Fannin, 30, of Morehead was killed Saturday in a crash near Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.

He was one of four men killed in the crash.

Fannin served in the 552nd Operations Support Squadron.

There were no reports of enemy activity in the area at the time, and the crash is still under investigation.

Fannin's family said he always had a smile, kind words, and a heart of gold. They said he loved his family, his dog, and to fish and camp.

Fannin joined the Air Force in 2001.
