That warning isn't just aimed at political signs, either. Any type of non-official sign (advertisements, yard sale notices, etc.) are not allowed on state highway rights of way, guardrails or on road signs.

The KTC said such signs can distract drivers and make for dangerous traffic conditions, and can also hinder mowing and cleaning operations.

State highway workers will be pulling up signs that could create safety concerns, but will allow the signs' owners to get them back at their county's maintenance facility for a certain amount of time.
